Archivist - Tim Volckaert

an introduction to the work of Tim Volckaert

KORTE INHOUD

This hybrid between canonical cataloguing and artist-driven exhibiting will be the first comprehensive monography of Tim Volckaert (°1979). The work of Tim Volckaert translates a world vision where duality - which characterizes and dominates the history of Western thought – is central. In his drawings, sculptures and actions the image of ‘the landscape’ is often the starting point. The landscape in the qualification of ‘world space’ that serves as a backdrop to comment on the struggle of man with his environment. Despite its visual concreteness, the work of Tim Volckaert has a poetic character, where abstract thoughts are shaped into tangible objects from an instinctive power. In his work, Tim Volckaert articulates a sharp, accurate vision that is rooted in everyday reality, placed in a historical perspective. A critical reflection is constantly fed by current affairs, environmental problems etc.
