Lamps, lights, and the nature of exhibitions. Features the lighting fixtures in the Palais des Beaux-Arts.
In the "Selective Affinities" series at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Verjux's work was exhibited alongside that of Luciano Fabro. And, like the writings that accompany Fabro's piece, this book also examines the nature of the exhibition itself. Verjux's work is concerned with lighting and the space that exists between the theatrical and the everyday. The series of photographs in this book, taken by Andre Morin, feature the lighting apparatuses in the various rooms of the Palais. In assembling them, Verjux creates a kind of "off-screen space." And despite the fact that this space is usually ignored by the public, it remains one of the factors which determine our experience of the exhibition.
