Peniarth 5, which originally preceded Peniarth 4, contains religious texts, the Welsh Charlemagne cycle and other matter: Peniarth 4 contains the earliest complete text of the Mabinogion tales and, as a whole, the White Book provides the earliest texts of much of the best of Welsh medieval secular prose.
