Explorer and daredevil adventurer Ethan Gage is back! After travelling the deserts of Egypt with no less than Emperor Napoleon himself, he is due for a change of pace. Narrowly escaping a plot on his life amid a celebratory fireworks display – all while pulling off a tryst with the Emperor's sister – he encounters a grizzled Norwegian named Magnus Bloodhammer. Magnus shows Ethan an ancient map, one indicating that a mysterious artefact. Thor's hammer, was last known to be in a medieval Norse settlement in North America. The hammer is said to control the weather and lightning by unknown principals – and Ethan sets off for the New World in order to find it.
