Sprache der Einheit im Epheserbrief und in der Ökumene (Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament 2. Reihe, WUNT II 150) - Mayer, Annemarie C.

KORTE INHOUD

English summary: The unity of the church(es) is the major problem connecting contemporary ecumenical research to the Letter to the Ephesians. Today the limits of the differentiated consensus have become apparent and those in ecumenical hermeneutics are striving for new, more complete solutions. A biblical model, however, might provide a basis acceptable to the different denominations. Ephesians does not offer a plain and straightforward solution to our ecumenical problems, but it does provide a model based on the interrelatedness of language and content. In order to bridge the gap between former Jews and Gentiles it uses not only the established terminology but also a whole range of metaphors rooted in their respective traditions while coining them in a specific Christian way. Annemarie Mayer traces the model of Ephesians and asks whether it is already being applied to contemporary discourse or how it could help to further mutual understanding and unity.
