Survey and depiction of the moon by the geodesist, topographer, astronomer, and meteorologist Wilhelm Gotthelf Lohrmann (1796-1840). The meteorologist did valuable work as a survey inspector in the Saxon land survey. In 1820 he acquired a telescope and began systematic lunar observations. In 1824 he published the first sheets of his sectional map. The complete work was published only in 1878 by the Barth publishing house, the publication is mainly due to Julius Schmidt (1825-1884), the most successful lunar observer of his time.
