?The extensive and detailed commentary covers many aspects of the poem. (?) C. shows with a number of details that Prudentius? ?Hamartigenia? has inspired the poet?s elucidation. (?) This book has one very deplorable lacuna: there are no indices at all. (?) Consequentially, consulting this book is more complicated than it should be. Moreover, at least part of C.?s expert notes threatens to be overlooked. However, those readers who are interested in the poetry and the theological discussions in Gaul during the first decades of the fifth century should not be put off.
