''Das griechische Drama', edited by G.A. Seeck, is an excellent guide to the ancient Greek theatre and its drama. If an English translation could be published, it would deserve to be in all sixth-form and college libraries. The dramatic field has been divided into eleven sections, with each section farmed out to an expert who is forced to present his amalgam of facts and interpretation within a space of 50 pages. (...). Good editing has prevented repetition and overlap, and none of the sections fails in its aim to provide a stimulating assessment of author or area in the light of modern scholarship (...) of a blending of both.'
