English summary: Gotthard Jasper presents two unexpected and dissimilar correspondences between the conservative Lutheran theologian Paul Althaus, who had a pietistic background, and his reformed Swiss colleagues and antagonists Emil Brunner and Karl Barth. The correspondence with Emil Brunner is shaped by a deep friendship resulting from a meeting in person. This friendship lasts till the end of their lives in spite of all the scientific and political controversies that are documented in the letters. These shed light on the political and theological positions of Paul Althaus. The correspondence with Karl Barth originates in a controversy and is at first rather formal. After meeting each other in person Barth and Althaus develop a much more personal correspondence, without suppressing of removing their differences. The correspondence is interrupted during the NS rule, but is resumed in 1950 by Althaus. It reflects the personal relationship of two controversial theologians.
