From 1996 to 2002, Birgit Rautenberg studied photography with Dirk Reinartz at the Muthesius Academy of Art in Kiel. Her diploma thesis ?In my own body. About trying to get closer to your ideal.? (A documentary about cosmetic surgery), was awarded the BFF sponsorship prize for the best diploma theses in the field of photography in 2002. Her artistic work is mainly in the field of landscape photography; her work has been shown in numerous group and several solo exhibitions. Furthermore, Birgit Rautenberg works as a freelance photographer in Kiel in the fields of documentation, landscape and portraits. She has published in various magazines (Neon, Geo, Börsenblatt, Fotonews, Neue Zürcher Zeitung). Birgit Rautenberg is married to the German writer and artist Arne Rautenberg
