In 2002 the Antwerp museums will program three exhibitions about the Antwerp port and the shippingtrade. These exhibitions are part of the preparation of the Museum aan de Stroom, the new citymuseum. The Hessenhuis will be housing 'Rapid', an exhibition that focuses on the history of the Antwerp port between 1880 and today. nThe Museum of Folklore has in the same period an exhibition about 'Daily life near the dockside'. The National Maritime Museum concentrates on emigration. 'Pack up, off to America (1843-1930)' tells the story of thousands of emigrants who went via Antwerp to the New World.
