Great Novels of Anthony Trollope - Anthony Trollope

The Warden, Barchester Towers, An Eye for an Eye

KORTE INHOUD

Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) remains consistently one of the best loved authors ever tot have written in English. His portraits of middle-class small town England are compulsive in their detail and gripping in their dramas, and present one of the most fascinating pictures of what it was like to live in nineteenth century Britain.
The Warden (1855) tells the story of an elderly clergyman in the grip of a crisis of conscience as he struggles with reforms in the church. It is the first of Trollope's hugely successful Barchester Chronicles.
The second, Barchester Towers (1857) tells of a church 'war', alive with intrigue and comedy, infused with the subtle wisdom and respect for tradition that are Trollope's enduring appeal.
An Eye for an Eye (1870) is Trollope's most dramatic work, and certainly his frankest and most daring treatment of pre-marital sex.
