The Oxford History of Protestant Dissenting Traditions, Volume III. The Nineteenth Century. - LARSEN, T. L.,

The Nineteenth Century

KORTE INHOUD

I find it hard to imagine how one might have done a better job of condensing the range of nineteenth-century Protestant Dissenting thought and practice into a single volume. The choice of topics is thoughtful; the essays are informative and lucid; and the scholarship is impeccable throughout (with the notes alone providing a rich treasure trove of sources). In their series introduction, Larsen and Noll write that [h]owever imprecise the category of 'Dissent' must remain, the volumes in this series are guaranteedto delight readers with the wealth of their insight (xix). It is a bold claim, but one that is certainly borne out in this case. Mark Knight, Victorian Studies |a 13/05/2020 (Publisher's information).
